Jean PERRIN Comprehensive Cancer Center – Clinical Research Division
Clinical research at Jean PERRIN Comprehensive Cancer Center is directed by Pr Xavier DURANDO. This unit brings together the expertise necessary for the implementation of any high-level research in oncology involving the patient, fondamental research, clinical research (Phases I, II, III, IV, database management) and translational research.
Clinical research makes it possible to develop new treatments or protocols for the direct benefit of patients. At present, this is the only way to access therapeutic innovation as soon as possible.
Key Figures (year 2020):
• 102 open interventional trials including 9 promoted by the Jean PERRIN Comprehensive Cancer Center
• 755 patients
• 46 non-interventional trials
• 3731 patients
• 83 international publications in 2019
The clinical research activity is coordinated within a unit of the establishment called the "Clinical Research Division" (DRC) whose missions are divided into 2 activities:
• promotional activity: design, implement, analyze and promote clinical research trials,
• Investigation activity: study the feasibility of trials, select, set up trials, include and monitor patients.
Coordinated by Pr Xavier Durando, this unit aims to continue the evaluation of new therapies and new practices. The Clinical Research Division is particularly involved in research on breast, ovarian, lung, upper aerodigestive tract and central nervous system cancers.
