Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital - Axe Cancer
The Axe Cancer is one of the 5 research axes of the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital. It includes the research activity from various clinical departement involved in managing patients with cancer. The clinical research is conducted by the Direction of Clinical Research and Innovation and benefits from a Center for Biological Ressources, a Clinical investigation Center and from diverse plateforms.
Structure and interactions
The Axe Cancer is coordinated by Pr Romain Guièze and Karine Bonnabry through the Federation of Cancerology who is the hospital organization in charge of setting optimal care pathways of patients with cancer.
Clinical research in oncology is managed by the Direction of Clinical Research and Innovation (DRCI) providing methodoly support from the conception to the publication of the project. A main goal of the Axe Cancer is to connect clinical and basic researches to generate high-impact findings. A Clinical investigation Center (CIC-1405, UMR 1107) also provides technical and methodological help for cancer research, one of his central topic of interest.
The Axe cancer also benefits from the multiple platforms of the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital:
- the Center for Clinical Ressources (CRB-A, certification in avril 2013 (NF S 96–900)) including samples from national cohorts and prospective trials.
- Flow cytometry and cell sorting
- Digitale PCR
- Molecular genomics platform
Our scientific project is focused on 3 areas :
- tumor evolution and resistance
- immune intervention
- supportive cares
Some numbers (2014-2019) :
- 67 members
- 437 clinical trials
- 3693 enrolled patients
- 557 publications (268 en rank A/B, 39 high impacted journals (impact factor > 20)
